Grand Stanford Intercontinental or Langham Hotel

Hi Guys,

I am visiting Hong Knog in September on the last stage of my honeymoon after visiting Kuala Lumpur and Bali.

Now with Hong Kong I am really confused as to which of these hotels is best to choose. My partner and I want to be near sights, nightlife and shopping as we are only staying for 3 nights, but have a hotel which has really nice rooms and service. I am not sure if they both have rooms with good views as this would be a nice addition on top.

Both hotels look really nice but I am hopeful your assistance will help me decide.

Thanks

Grand Stanford Intercontinental or Langham Hotel

If you want a nice view than you will have to request this otherwise you will get run of the house - ie whatever is available at your price upon your arrival. There are two Langham hotels in HK. The closest to the sights would be the one at Tsimshatsui not the Mong Kok based hotel.

The Grand Stanford has harbour view rooms. The Langham has city view rooms.

Grand Stanford Intercontinental or Langham Hotel

Grand Stanford is located at Tsim Sha Tsui East so it%26#39;s around a 10-minute walk to Nathan Road and MTR. It does have harbour view rooms, and there is a ferry service that goes to/from Central with the last sailing at 7:50 pm and 8:00pm, respectively. The hotel is located at a quieter part of TST as there are mostly other hotels and offices around the area.

Location-wise, Langham Hotel is the best. You will be within 5 minutes of Harbour City, Star Ferry, and Nathan Road. Just a couple of more minutes and you will be at the harbour front. Plenty of shopping around you as well.

Langham Place at Mong Kok will be closest to the Ladies Market and also more local in flavour. The hotel is also the newest and has received rave reviews on this board.

I%26#39;m starting to feel like a cheerleader for the Grand Stanford, but it is seriously one of the top hotels I%26#39;ve stayed in around the world. The service is absolutely the best I have ever experienced. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable and the harbor views are incredible. I have no doubt they would pamper you for a honeymoon stay.

While not as centrally located as some other hotels, it%26#39;s right across the street from the high speed ferry and a 5-10 minute walk to the main shopping district of TST and Star Ferry terminal. Or you can pay a couple of dollars (US) for a quick cab ride.

I posted a review and some photos over in the reviews area if you want more info. I have never stayed at the Langham so can%26#39;t compare, but you won%26#39;t be disappointed with the Stanford.

Would have to agree with Tivogirl on the nearby transport, service etc as I work at InterContinental Grand Stanford! And thank you Tivogirl for your kind comments.

Anyway, we definitely have great harbour views - but please be sure to request them and when you book - tell us you are on honeymoon.

Our service is consistently good - I would say better and at least on par with most five star hotels in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong is generally a small place and anywhere in Tsimshatsui, Kowloon is within walking distance / short cab ride. Actually, InterContinental Grand Stanford does have regular shuttle buses of its own that take you to Harbour City - HK%26#39;s largest undercover shopping centre.

We are also just a short walk to the Avenue of Stars on the waterfront, several museums and public transport links to the other key sights. If you want something that%26#39;s %26#39;in the know%26#39; - our concierge team is second to none and can certainly help to make the final leg of your honeymoon visit to Hong Kong that much more memorable.

Anyway, while I do work for the hotel, feel free to drop me a line and I will do my best to answer them (regardless of where you choose to stay). I just love this city and hope you have a good time.

Hi Intercontiguy

Any chance of you posting your contact email address please?

Me and my partner are due at the Grand Stanford on 11th April for a four night stay and cannot wait as I have heard good things from friends who have stayed.

All the best

Kirsty

IGS is more ';luxurious'; looking and more spacious rooms.

Langham hotel- more ';hip'; and ';high tech'; and super convenient location as the MTR exit/entrance is connected to the hotel by underground walkway.

IGS is also in the ';quieter'; area, as opposed to Langham Place is right in the middle of a lot of action, to the point that I would describe it as sometimes ';chaotic';.

So it depends what you like, and what is the price you are getting for each one.
