High Tea in Hong Kong

Does anyone have a suggestion for a great place for high tea? I want to enjoy the whole afternoon high tea experience What about tea shops-I love black tea. Any suggestions for shops with a good selection? thank you,

High Tea in Hong Kong

Afternoon tea at ';The Pen';( The Peninsula) is the place to go but when I lived there I always preferred the Mandarin Oriental. We%26#39;re talking English High Tea though not Chinese!

High Tea in Hong Kong

Yes I want English High Tea

Everyone keeps suggesting High Tea at The Pen

so if it is english High Tea that you are looking for then the best place would be The Peninsula

We stayed in the Pen last September and had afternoon tea in the lobby one day.

It was fabulous. Expensive but worth it for the experience of people watching whilst eating fine sandwiches and cakes and hearing a string quartet play in the background.

We just got back from HK and went to high tea at the Pennisula. As far as I am concerned the most over rated part of our trip was high tea at the penn. I would suggest doing it at the Intercontenintal Hotel across the street, better tea, better food, better view. The penn is gettign old and tired as far as I am concerned.

I%26#39;ve been to both the Peninsula and the Mandarin Oriental for high tea, both have pros and cons:

Mandarin

Pros: Quieter surroundings, smaller crowd, wait in nice cushy sofas in lobby, great attentive service

Cons: Smaller portions, but still good of course

Peninsula

Pros: Large servings, great scones

Cons: Long long line (45 minutes) with no place to sit, noisy surroundings, waiters are overextended

That about breaks it down, hope this helps!

Scones at Island Shangri-la are nice too

Have them everytime i am there

If you are looking for a high tea EXPERIENCE (rather than really good food), I%26#39;ll say The Peninsula is the place. I go there from time to time; the only thing I don%26#39;t like is the long queue.

But scones at Island Shangri-la surely taste better!

Afternoon tea at the Inter-Continental is very nice indeed, with excellent views of the harbour through the floor-to-ceiling windows. It%26#39;s quiet and relaxing. I enjoy it a lot but it%26#39;s not a high tea ';experience'; as such.

It sounds like you want a bit of a show, something grand and almost spectacular. For that, you%26#39;ll definitely have to go to The Peninsula. It%26#39;s got the right history, tradition and the grand theatre of its architecture and decor. Try waiting until late afternoon, when it%26#39;s less busy.
