Guilin / Yanghsuo Cultural Experiences.

Our two families with 4 kids, ages 10-14, are interested in visiting Guilin and Yangshuo. We are considering not going to Lijiang and instead spending the time here. We would really like to see the more diverse cultures.

We are considering Longshen, Xingping, Yucun, and the Baisha area. We would even consider going further afield.

We could potentially have 8 days in the area, although we are still working things out.

Thanks for your help!

Try a cooking class! I took this one: www.yangshuocookingschool.com/contact.html

There was a little girl in the class I took (she was about 8) and she really enjoyed it (so did I!). The food was great, the scenery was beautiful, the lead chef was lovely, and they accommodate vegetarians.

Two excellent suggestions.

The cooking class sounds like a lot of fun for everyone.

Can you tell me more about Jiuwu Village and Daxu town?

Any other towns recommended?

Thanks!

Xingping is a cool little town - it%26#39;s the spot pictured on the back of the Rmb20 note. I was there last week, took a 1.5 hour boat trip up and down the Li Jiang River - very beautiful. The town itself mainly consists of a really neat OLD street leading to the river - it%26#39;s fascinating, like stepping back in time. At the end of the street is a funky cafe serving coffee and tea and sandwiches - a real treat. It%26#39;s easy to get there from Yangshuo - just a Rmb5.5 mini-bus ride from the main bus station, about 30 minutes through countryside.

This is great news.

Are there any other places that are further afield?

Thanks!

I am bound to say that with the kids in the age group that you have Yangshuo and the activities available will suit you as a group. I mean what kid and what adult would not like the idea of bamboo rafting, bike tours, hiking, ballooning, caving, hiring an electric mini bike, walks through villages little changed in the last 300 years, eating everything from the local Chinese food to western dishes in West St Yangshuo right down to the neighbourhood KFC watching a light show which could give a preview of the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony and so it goes on

If you send me your email address I will send as attachments some pictures of the areas that you mentioned except for Yucun and I have to say I have never heard of that town

Happy Trails

Lucky Aussie

How would you organize the days? What would be your pick for four days? What about a longer stay?

Thanks!

Hi, I read about a 4 day itinerary including the sound and light show but I cannot find it now, the details, can you post it up again for me.

Thanks
