Food ,Food ,Food

We are interested in trying out all the local food in macau.Basically we are going on a eating trip. Very adventurous with food and likes to try anything .

Prefer to know the local macau eating spot i.e seafood ,dim sum ,and etc ....yes ,most important not the tourist area. Distance is not a problem as we can travel miles for good food.

La Bonne Heure was our favorite spot, actually went twice in our short trip. It is off the second alley way on the right when entering Senato Square. A bit more is posted online at reciperesearch.blogspot.com

Have a great trip.

Guess when one mentions Macau, one will automatically think of casinos. Not me! But I%26#39;ve always associated Macau with food, as three of my visits to Macau in the last 2 years have been memorable food trips! Here are just a few personal choices...

Of course the first thing we tried were the ';must'; restaurants. First on the list is Fernando%26#39;s. It is a rather quaint restaurant in Coloane, near Hac Sa beach. Everyone recommends reserving a table as this Portugese restaurant is popular with locals and tourists alike. We always ask the concierge to reserve a table for us, and as much as possible we always arrived early. We always go there for lunch, never tried the ambience during dinner time. And since you say distance is not a problem, this one is a bit of a travel from the city center. Though don%26#39;t worry Macau is a rather small place. We sampled the bacalao dishes, caldo verde, prawns in garlic, and enjoyed the suckling pig verytime we visit of course! 9 Praia de Hac Sa, Coloane Island, Macau Tel: (853) 882 264, 882 531

After seeing the sights around Senado Square, we also enjoyed dining at Ristorante Platao G/F, 3 Travessa de Sao Domingo

Macau Tel: (853) 331 818, Tucked in one of the streets (just a few steps from Mc Donalds), it has a more modern feel compared to the laid back Fernando%26#39;s. I noticed the crowd usually becomes dressier durring the latter hours, and it looks like its a favorite among expats as well.

We stayed in Taipa during our last trip and we were lucky to try out more good food! Taipa Village is full of good restaurants! We ate twice in a row at Dumbo Restaurant (Yes, as in Dumbo the elephant - you wont miss the big sign, which I%26#39;m sure has no permission from Disney hahahaha!). The place is rather huge, and compared to the first two restaurants mentioned, we had a slightly difficult time ordering as the staff werent that fluent in English during our first visit. We ended up watching and pointing food that passed by to be brought to other tables. It turned out to be such a good idea! We had to come back for more! :) It is a rather big restaurant, a bit noisy one. A lof of good desserts on the first floor too! We tried most of them by take out and chowed them down at the hotel.

Oh desserts. I%26#39;ll give you three as well.

If you are into egg tarts, it is a must that you drop by the original Lord Stow%26#39;s too. Believe me, I really can%26#39;t say why, but I guess nothing beats an authentic egg tart from the original Lord Stow%26#39;s. Make a stop for it after your Fernando%26#39;s lunch. I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll make room (I had room for three hot egg tarts as we travelled back to our hotel!). Colane Village Square, Macau, Macau Tel: +853 882 534

Another stop whenever we go to Senado Square is Lemon Cello Gelato! Not necessarily Macanese or Portugese, but, well, it%26#39;s good! Rua da Palha, Macau.

And of course, no Macau trip would ever be complete without enjoying not just one Iced Fire Serradura!!! It%26#39;s a simple frozen creme and cookie dessert with meringue topping that they quickly ';toast'; in an oven toaster. It comes out like baked alaska, but I really can%26#39;t explain how something so simple can be that good! Simple and sinful, the regular Serradura comes in different flavors as well (chocolate, nuts, blueberry, rocky road, cookies and cream, and my favorite Durian! etc.). I always have a print out of the address in Chinese in case I want to rush here in a cab.

沙度娜 Serrdura

Address: 澳门氹仔地堡街泉福新村第一期第六座 Rua do Regedor, Di Bao Quan Fu Cun, Building 1/6, Taipa, Macau

Phone: 332880 or 838688

They have another branch in Macau, and sad to say I just found out last weekend that their branch in Mongkok, Hong Kong has closed down. Yup, and I%26#39;m still depressed. Imagine I was carrying that maroon Serrdura cooler getting ready to buy 2 dozen cups to bring home as I stood across the corner, controlling myself not to scream, why the Hong Kong branch that I usually go to to get my Serrdura fix has gone (it has been replaced with an athletic shoe shop). As my flight was hours away, I didn%26#39;t bother asking if it has relocated.

That just means I have to go to Macau for another food trip in the next few months (or weeks!).

Enjoy! And if you have some discoveries on your trip, please do share! :)

Hi Impulsetraveller,

Thks for detail food tips and we are definetly gonna translate your valuable inputs into action (that is eating) in those highlited restaraunt.

Well we believe some good eating place indicators are where the local goes to.
