Guilin to Yangshuo River Cruise?

Is it possible and worthwhile to do a river cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo?

Also, is Guilin worth spending any time at?

Guilin to Yangshuo River Cruise?

1) Possible yes; worthwhile not really.

2) IMHO no.

Guilin to Yangshuo River Cruise?

We went to Gulin last September to join the cruise as part of our 3 week holiday. Whilst there I would recommend a visit to the Reed Flute Cave which is superb. Some of it is simply stunning.

The cruise itself is lovely and I was surprised at the qaulity of the food we had on the one we went. Wasn%26#39;t too sure about the snake wine with real snakes though!!

Make sure you spend more time in Yangshou when you arrive. Avoid the %26#39;market%26#39; when you arrive and go back in the afternoon once the boat crowds have gone (prices are cheaper then too). I would recommend staying there for the evening and seeing the sound and light show, it%26#39;s fantastic.

We plan to spend most of our time in Yangshuo, but I had heard that Guilin was also nice. Looks like we%26#39;ll just take the cruise from Guilin and spend all our time in Yangshuo.

Does anyone have a website for a cruise tour operator? What time of day do the cruises usually leave and how long are they? Thanks.

I would instead recommend doing a shorter and cheaper cruise on bamboo rafts from Yangshuo to Xingping, hopefully I%26#39;ve got the names right.

many tourisits say if you visit Guilin and Yangshuo without river cruise is not complete, it is true even I am local see this kind of karst formation landscape everyday, it is very common for me. but 2 things make me feel the landscape is very beautiful: 1. Li River Cruise. 2. Climb up to the top of hill to see the view.

Thanks for all of your comments.

Does anyone have any information about Li River tour companies?

the boatsleave for yangshuo at about 9 or 9:30 and take about 4 hours to yangshuo.

thanks

The Li River cruise is very expensive $RMB500 ea so I would suggest giving it a miss because there are shorter boat cruises available from Yangshuo for about $RMB60 which will take you to the most scenic part of the Li River the same as the cruise from Guilin the area around Xing Ping. To place this in perspective the cost of one river cruise fare will get you 2 nights accomodation and food for one day in Yangshuo

Guilin is just a big city and has these disadvantages because not many people speak english so language is really a barrier, Guilin is about $RMB100 per night more expensive for a comparable hotel than Yangshuo and Guilin is a big city and travellers get lost in the crowd where as Yangshuo in the restarants bars and clubs on West St travellers tend to congregate to eat drink and party while discussing their experiences during the day.
