Vegetarian Food, Fresh Fruits and Fresh Fruit Juices

I am a vegetarian and do take a lots of fruits and fruit juices (not shakes). Without going out of my way to go for vege diet and fresh fruits and juices, are these abundant all over HK? I am staying in Northpoint and would be going to Lan Tau, Disney, Stanley, Peak, Central, Causeway bay.

Are vegetables generally cooked with msg and with chicken broth?

Thanks again.

I am a vegetarian too and have never had problems with food in Hong Kong

As for MSG, just have the hotel staff write it down for you and when you order your food show them the paper that says NO MSG PLEASE and they will abide by your rules

At stanley, there is this restaurant taht makes fried noodles with black mushrooms. very good.

At the peak try Mache

At Causeway Bay, there is lots to eat

I make it a point to go to Bo Kong at Times square

There is another restaurant called Kung Tak lam at Causeway Bay too........Kung Tak lam is Shanghainese food

At Central you can go too LKF.....lots of restaurants that do vegetarian food.

One of my favourites is Indochine.......a bit pricy but nice.

Laun tau and Disney.......sorry can%26#39;t help as i have not been there

Hi

Although not a vegetarian I could easily have became one when visiting Hong Kong, There are lots of juice bars and they are into jelly in a big way ie jelly at the bottom of your smoothie then piled with fresh fruit on top.

This seems to be a chain as they popped up everywhere and we managed to get our daily fix for about 10 days in a row.

Also there is a chain called Rice that sells fantastic rice rolls and you choose your fillings, they are abundant too with some even being in the MTR stations, however beware as some of the listings under vegetarian heading included chicken and fish.

Another thing that we managed to do was to go to the local supermarket and buy bags of fruit to prepare in our apartment (if your staying in a hotel then not so good but take a sharp knife with you or ask for one) for about 10-15HKD we managed to pack in three bags of fruit.

Have a fab time

Lisa

Yes, lots of foods are cooked with pork based broths, pork fat etc. Try the chain of Mix cafes. Nice wraps, juices etc. One can be found at the bottom of the Standard Chartered Bank building in Central and another in the arrivals hall at the airport. I%26#39;m sure there are more around.
