i have heard about scams in tea shops, can anyone explain what they are. many thanks

basically they work like this, and it may not be a tea shop.

Someone will approach you on the street and start talking and then suggest that you go with them to a tea shop/bar or similar to chat/improve their english or they can show you something unique.

You go along with them, either wishing to help or see some thing different. Purchase a drink/tea/coffee and later you are given a huge bill and expected to pay it or you may not leave.

Most Chinese people are good people but there are the tricksters like anywhere else. Dont go off with anyone that you dont know, any tour guides that you have arranged should have your details and the company details.

These people are everywhere! And yes, it%26#39;s not just tea. We got approached by a guy trying to sell us paintings from his studio, which is another common scam.
