This has probably been asked many times but hopefully someone will take pity on me . lol
What is the fastest and cheapest way to get from the airport to the YMCA ? Taxi , shuttle or public transportation ?
We are 2 adults with 2 pieces of luggage.
Everbody talks about this Octupus card but can you use it for all forms of transportation .
If you could be specific it would be appreciated.
???Airport to YMCA ???
If you don%26#39;t mind to walk for about 200 metres, airbus A21 is the cheapest, costs HK$33 per person, free luggage racks on bus, takes about 1 hour.
The fastest is taxi, costs around HK$300, takes about 30-45 minutes normally.
Octopus can be used on almost all forms of transports including airbus, bus, trams, peak tram, ferry, MTR metro trains, KCR trains, green scheduled service minibus, but most taxis do not take octopus, and most red unscheduled service minibus do not take octopus (but tourist seldon use these).
???Airport to YMCA ???
Does the airbus take us to our hotel ?
how much is that in USD?
The airbus does not stop exactly at the hotel, the nearest stop is about 200 yards from YMCA Salisbury, costs about US$4.50 per person.
On the other hand, a hotel bus will stop exactly at the hotel, bus costs around US$15 per person. Another option would be taking trains plus a taxi connection between train station and hotel, costs about US$25 for 2 persons altogether.
Dear envy4u, the easiest way and quickest way is to buy an octopus card as you come out past customs. Its the first thing you see. They will advise you as to which card to buy depending how long you are staying ect I always get one that includes two airport express rides(to and From) and will allow me to use all forms of transport during my stay. Take the airport express to kowloon and the shuttle bus will drop you at the kowloon hotel which is just opposite the YMCA. There is signage everywhere so it is just so easy.I have tried all forms of transport, but this is by far the quickest. OK so it is not the absolute cheapest but there is such athing as false economy, and you will arrive at your hotel feeling stress free. A taxi will cost you alot more because it is a fair drive and then when you get into Hk you will be stuck in the traffic. Have a wonderful time.
TIN %26gt; %26gt; thanks so much for the tip.
I was about to book tickets for our airport transfer ($150 roundtrip) when I saw your post--what a huge price difference! And this is considering, they%26#39;re just using a similar-type bus to take us to our hotel.
Hm, I%26#39;ll have to tell my other companions about this...I%26#39;ll ask them what they%26#39;d rather prefer...to be in a bus with lots of tourists or lots of locals? I hope the latter, because that%26#39;ll surely save us a lot of money and of course, it%26#39;ll also give us a headstart in mixing and mingling with the locals.
ONE last question though...you say that the bus doesn%26#39;t stop directly at the hotel...which of these A21 bus stops is nearest to the hotel then?
1) New World Center/ Salisbury Road
== I%26#39;m assuming it could either be this or the Museum but you never know, it might be nearer to the other stops... please confirm!
2) Tsim Sha Tsui MTR
3) Hong Kong Science Museum/ Chatham Road South
4) Cameron Road/ Chatham RS
5) Mody Road/ Chatham RS
Thanks so much!

geek_goddess,
The nearest airbus A21 bus stop from airport to YMCA Salisbury is the on Nathan Road near the junction with Middle Road. The airbus would have announcements of the nearby hotels for each stop.
The list of stop you mentioned are actually towards to airport direction.
Have a nice journey.
Thanks Tin!
About the same time you were posting this, I also found a similar website that says the same thing. So that%26#39;s stop #14 I think.
Anyway, thanks again for the help! :)
Stop 14 is the one to get off at for the Salisbury which is only a short walk away. For the return journey the stop is just across Nathan Road.
