travel SH in March

I%26#39;ll travel Shanghai in March.

Is there any hotel with good location and not very expensive?

Should I need a tour guide for tour? Can someone suggest the price for tour guide?

travel SH in March

1) try this http://english.ctrip.com/, be prepared to spend 4 hours research

2) usually 3 * with breakfast are about RMB (Chinese Yuan) 300 to 500, fairly good cost

3) Be sure to book hotel next to Metro, because taxi drivers aren%26#39;t very well-versed in English. Downtown Metro maybe crowded, but fairly easy to take, with lots of English signs

4) Since I am a Hong Kong person, I didn%26#39;t need tour guide, but got a map and took the Metro. So I can%26#39;t really answer your query about guides and cost.

Have fun and welcome to Shanghai.

Yes, some hotels which are located in city center (People%26#39;s Spare) only cost 498RMB/day.

You can go to www. elong.net to book hotel on line

It%26#39;s up to you.

Plan 1,

go to book store to buy an English map. (sometimes you can buy it in your hotel store)

Some must-see scenic spots:

Yu Garden ( also Yu Yuan Garden)

the Bund

Jade Buddha Temple

How many days you will spend in shanghai?

If more than 2 days, I suggest you can go to some outside place in shanghai.

I recommend Zhu Jia Jiao, it%26#39;s a water place and have hundreds years%26#39; history. It%26#39;s quite famous.

Tips:

Most scenic spots will be close after 5 pm.

Plan 2

hire a tour guide

the rate is 400-700RMB/day (51.28-89.74USD)

But I think more than 600 RMB is unreasonable.(Some tour guide agencies will cost you 120USD for one day tour guide)

Sometime tour guide and save your time and let you see some hiden places in Shanghai. And you can fotget the problem of language.

Enjoy you trip in Shanghai!

Happy Chinese New Year!

When would you be staying, and what would you consider ';not very expensive';?

You probably don%26#39;t need a tour guide if you read up on where you%26#39;re going (and preferably bring the guidebook as well) and also bring a Mandarin phrasebook (Rough Guide%26#39;s Mandarin is good) to ease communication problems.

If you want help with itinerary, sights etc email me at ellyse99@yahoo.com with ';TripAdvisor KevinNZ'; in the subject line. I%26#39;m studying in Shanghai and have also travelled extensively in mainland China for the last 3.5 years.

There are many hotels in good locations and not too expensive. (Unless you take 5* Hotels) 3* Hotels are good and will meet your needs.

Tour guide you can ask the hotel reception (or someone in this forum)

An absolut MUST to see is the Shanhgai Aquarium (even though in NZ you have good ones) Pearl Tower and have a coffe at the Hyatt Hotel (54th. floor) This is on PuDong side.

You also have to have a look at The Bund, Peoples Square and take a ride on the Maglev Train.

If you are interested in Museums, I am the wrong person to ask for.

Just to remind you. All the tourist spots are full with people wanting to sell copy watches, etc. Don%26#39;t pay any attention to them if not, you end up buying things you don%26#39;t want ot need.

Yes, I agree with Pilantra88.

If you pay any attention to one guy who want you to see the list paper of fake products, more and more guys will come to you...
