Shanghai hotels - Rui Tai & Langsheng

Anyone know anything about the Rui Tai Hotel or the Lansheng Hotel both in Shanghai?

Kuoni have just moved us from the former to the latter as it is ';a better standard';, want to make sure they don%26#39;t just mean ';cheaper';!

Names and spelling are both correct as per Kuoni correspondence but I can%26#39;t find much on here about either.

There seem to be 2 Ruitai Hotels in Shanghai, based on a Google. One in Hongqiao and the other in Jing%26#39;an. IIRC Lansheng Hotel is near People%26#39;s Square, so the location is quite reasonable.

I stayed at the Rui Tai hotel with Kuoni last September and it was definitely the poorest of the hotels that we had on our tour. The rooms were very run down and the carpets were squelchy underfoot. The location of the Rui Tai was also really inconvenient as it was well away from anywhere that you would want to be in Shanghai. The also tried to rip us off when we asked for a late check out, quoting one price when we arranged it and then trying to charge us 3 times as much.

I don%26#39;t know much about the Langsheng as I changed my booking there to the much more convenient Pudong Shangri-la, but the people who had stayed there said it was better than the Rui Tai. To be honest, it couldn%26#39;t be much worse.

Have a nice trip. I loved China!

Take Ruitai Honqiao Hotel. I already stayed there 3 times and it is OK. but not close to downtown.
