Luxury and space with 2 small children

Hi, my husband and I and 2 children aged 2 and 5 are coming to Shanghai for a stopover in early August. We want to stay in Luxury but we also want space and the ability for the children to have their own room, so don%26#39;t want to have to pay for 2 6star hotel rooms. Do any of the luxury hotels have 2 bed suites or apartments or are there any luxury serviced apartments? thanks, dale

Location is important when staying in Shanghai as traffic is slow at times and just to get from Pudong to the Puxi side by taxi can take 30 minutes at times - so location and nearby attractions to wherever you stay is very important.

We stayed at the Somerset Grand - it is very pleasant and spacious and located in a really beautiful part of Shanghai - the French Concession. It is close to the upper scale Xintiandi - which has many restaurants to choose from. This is a bonus as it only takes about 3 minutes walk to get there in the evening. A nice park is opposite this complex. Here you can see locals going about Tai Chi, exercises and dancing. At the back of the building is an area where locals live. Further down the road you get into an area where the rich locals live. Not luxury as in a 6 star sense but not exactly camping either.

With a three bedroom layout check that the third bedroom is a dedicated room not a converted study with a bed as you may feel ripped off if you don%26#39;t determine in advance what you are getting.

There%26#39;s also Tomorrow Square, Shanghai - Marriott Executive Apartments which is located in the middle the shopping didtrict of Shanghai. This is not as a trendy location as the Somerset though.

There is also the Shanghai Centre associated with the Ritz Carlton group. They have a 5 night minimum stay policy.Not as good location as either of the other two - but more luxury and the likelihood of Ritz carlton service.

The Four Seasons has a 2 bedroomPremier suite too. I am sure all of the 5 star hotels have suites - just try to find one on the Puxi side.
