Family trip to Shanghai April 1 2007

I will be traveling to Shanghai the week of April 1, 2007 with my wife and daughter. I would love to hear from any other families that have done this vacation or locals that could help me with choices in hotels, dos and dont%26#39;s, tour guides, etc. Thank you for your help in advance.

What are your interests and how old is your daughter?

DO stay on the Puxi side near the centre of town. It is not necessary to be on the Bund.

DO you want an apartment (the same cost of a 4/5 star hotel with laundry, 2 bedrooms, Televisions and kitchen or just a hotel room?

Arrange for a tour to a water town. Wuzhen, Tongli, Xitang or you could go to Suzhou or Hangzhou (gardens and lakes but packed with tourists)

Also serach Shanghai itineraries at this website for other ideas from many other familes.

Purchase a Lonely Planet guide and use taxis rather than go on tours for the day. That gives you flexibility with your child who may otherwise be bored to tears or hire a private guide just for your family.

You should visit the Shànghai Municipal History Museum in the basemnt of the Oriental Peal Tower. A must for anyone going to Shanghai, especially with children.

What%26#39;s your budget like for accommodation?

How long do you have to spend in China? Would you be in Shanghai only?

Email me at ellyse99@yahoo.com (please put ';TripAdvisor jimt23'; in the subject line so that I don%26#39;t junk your email by mistake, thanks) with those answers and more details about yourself and I would be in a better position to help you out with itinerary and etc. I%26#39;m studying in Shanghai and have travelled extensively in China for the past 3.5 years.
