China Official Holidays

Hi!

We are planning our honeymoon, and we are travelling to China.

We will be arriving on May 1st to Beijing, and then move to Xiam and then Shangai.

We were told that it is official holiday on China and we don%26#39;t know what to expect.

Will it be a problem? Will be markets or stores closed? Too many people on the streets?

Thank you very much.

China Official Holidays

I just replied you on private message, but for the benefit of anyone else with the same concerns:

Bad, bad idea.

1st week of May is Labour Day holiday week and it%26#39;s VERY difficult to travel around China. Trains sold-out, plane tickets and accommodation more expensive (less discounts), people everywhere stepping on your toes and elbowing you in your ribs. Not to mention (most probably) jet-lag, the language barrier and culture shock for 1st-time travellers to China. The last 3 factors are bad enough for ordinary travel times without adding the extras on. Definitely not my idea of a holiday much less a honeymoon.

The sights and stores won%26#39;t be closed.

Either leave before 1/5, or come after 7/5.

Yes, it%26#39;s national holiday.

we will have 7 days off

if you come to China in this time, you will meet a lot of people in hot scenic spots. It%26#39;s pretty crowded! Sometime you even can%26#39;t move you step!

Markets and stores will not close, because it%26#39;s the best time for them to sell their goods! ( during that time, a lot of department stores will make their goods on sell :-)
