Beijing to Xian in march

I%26#39;m heading to china in a few weeks (mid march) and my friends and I thought we%26#39;d just book our overnight trains once we arrive to our first hostel. I was just wondering if anyone knows if late march is a busy time? That is has anyone experienced getting overnight trains and finding hostels at the last min. this time of year? I%26#39;ve booked our first and last hostels...but not the two we will need in between or the overnight trains...any words of wisdom?

Get your onward ticket as soon as you arrive in Beijing and you should be fine.

Late March is not tourists season,however it is better to buy tickets once you arrive in Beijing.

For hostel in Xi%26#39;an it is better to decide before you arrive there.I been to Xi%26#39;an by overnight train before,however hotel is not easy,maybe you will stay there for 2 days,it is better have more time to sightseeing not searching a hostel,what do you think?

Our trip is short...2 nights beijing, 1night Xian, 1night suzhou, two nights shanghai...I%26#39;m going to plan on getting our train tickets from the hostel soon as we arrive....and keep my fingers crossed until then! :)

From personal experience it%26#39;s not easy getting decent train tickets out of Xi%26#39;an, so I would advise you to get your hostel to pre-buy the Xi%26#39;an -- Suzhou ticket for you.

I hope you%26#39;re not doing Suzhou -- Shanghai on a Sunday afternoon/night or Friday night. These are the worst times to be trying for a ticket. Again speaking from plenty of personal experience.
