taipo_babe any suggestions

Tin thought you might be able to advise

Looking at taking kids ( 4 of them ages 3 to 13) to Macau / Zhuhai for a day trip ?. Can you suggest places for the kids to go. Read somewhere about a great toy shop there - have you heard of this place?

Also if here for the day do you think it would be possible to hire a tour guide (needs to fit 6 people) to show us around and take us in to china for the day.

We are looking at going across into Zhuhai for a visit also - waste of time or not?? If the shopping is cheaper here do you know of a place that makes mens suits and a rough price would help?

If we don%26#39;t cross the border is Colone a nice place for the day?

Thanks for your advice

no one replied yet.... you won%26#39;t mind some information from me?

With kids at age 3 and to teenager age 13, AND 6 people.... won%26#39;t fit in a taxi... I highly recommend that you stay just in Macau. For just one day, (assuming you are going from HK)..... Macau has lots to do with the kids for 1 day.... with a preschooler, you might need 2 days to do Macau.

Macau is all eating !!! Enjoy a eating feast in Macau.

Go to ';Sun Ma Lo'; and stop at the fountain. Start your walk here.... you will stroll along so many little shops, and eateries and street stalls, (especially on weekends). Then make your way up to St. Paul Ruins. Take a photo there as it%26#39;s a must in Macau!

Fisherman%26#39;s Wharf now opened... totally different atmosphere from the rest of Macau or HK !

Macau Tower- lots of see, nice photos, and nice place to have afternoon tea.

Make sure you let everyone try the Portuguese Egg tarts.

If you can do all this in one day, you will have done well!

Taipa and Coloane- really not much for the kids, temples, and a go-kart place, but your kids aren%26#39;t old enough to do it. And then the Black Sand beach in Coloane just near Westin Hotel.

Coloane has NOTHING to do except go to Fernandos (wait for hours) for lunch, and the Westin Hotel. At least until all the new hotels and resorts are opened.....

If you want to go to China- you need more than 1 day. If you can go 2 nights at least... then Zhuhai is nice. Spas are mostly the reason I know people who go... and some water parks like www.lostcityzh.com

I don%26#39;t know if you will consider taking your kids to Guangzhou (pangyu)..... b/c the hotel and safari there is very popular to tourists local and abroad. Zoo, safari, amusement park , having breakfast next to white tigers, and see shows similar to Cirque du Soleil.

Hope this helps you.

Hi beaverwillows,

NO, definitely not Zhuhai, especially with small kids, lots of shopping but extremely poor quality, VCD/DVDs are more expensive than Shenzhen and none of them work.

If you really want to do toy shopping or tailor made suit etc., just go to Lowu Commercial city in Shenzhen. Aren%26#39;t there a shopping bible written by Aussie about Shenzhen shopping? Forgot the name, but Tin must have mentioned it before.

I went to a so-called ';hot spring'; in Zhuhai, it was so filthy and lots of people spitting….never again.

The zoo and night safaris in Panyu are replicas of Singapore Zoo and night safari, but at a much lower standard.

See if you can get some better deals with www.shuntaktravel.com for packages to Macau.

There are schedule tours depart at 11:00 am or 1:30 pm from the Tourism office at Macau Pier arrival hall, for further info you can check or email to www.macautourism.gov.mo/en/

I agree, I would never bring my kids to Zhuhai either.

Hmmm, the experience Taipo babe mentioned (spitting) sounds terrible! Yuck!

I don%26#39;t know, some of my friends told me they go every month to these ';spas'; for massages, soaking in the mineral baths, and eating...etc.

My husband won%26#39;t even get the visas for my kids to go to China.....

Wow thanks to both of you - GREAT HELP..... Looks like we are heading to Shenzhen - you are all worth your wait in GOLD.

I have been reading all of your tips - just so healpful - keep up the good work and have a great NEW YEAR

Regards xxxxx
